When we were at my parents’ house the day before New Years Eve, Scout and my family’s husky Snort got into a small “scuffle.”

Everyone is okay! There was no physical harm. Once we shook off the initial overwhelm, there doesn’t seem to be much mental fallout either (for dogs or humans).

But it was hard.

While I usually enjoy processing publicly on Paws and Reflect, I didn’t feel like sharing much about the encounter right away. (I was Big Emotional.) Now I’ve had nearly a full month to organize my thoughts and gauge how Scout is doing, though — and removed from the heightened emotions of the actual moment, it’s a lot easier to reflect in depth.
