"Manners are subjective" is a sentence I need playing on repeat in my head. And I can completely see how what looks like "audacity" is actually a sign of Scout's increasing confidence and security!
Absolutely. Audacity is my own dog's specialty, and it took me a bit of time and humility to realize that it's not always backed by confidence. She's quiet when she's comfortable. "It depends" is rapidly becoming my favorite phrase in dog training.
Couldn't agree with this more! Sometimes I worry my dog's not "behaving" himself well enough but then remind myself how others are so complimentary and how he has rules he never tests.
Also Scout is so cute! I don't know if I'd seen a pic of her before but she looks *so* much like my childhood dog (who also looks a lot like my current dog). I'll have to see if I can dig up a pic!
I also believe that manners are subjective. My dog is allowed to walk ahead of me on leash unless I ask her to stay beside me, she's allowed on my bed and the other furniture, and good luck convincing her that people in the passenger seat of my car aren't fair game for ALL the kisses. Figuring out what works for me (and her) is one of the best parts about being a somewhat experienced dog guardian. I have the confidence to be able to stand firm if someone is bold enough to tell me that I'm doing it "wrong".

It’s one of my favorite things to think about re different dogs with their own personalities and how we respond to them!

This was an amazing way to spend ten minutes of my time. I enjoyed this piece very much!
